So you have a great car. Did you personally choose its color? If not, what would be the perfect color you will go for? Silver? Red? Black? Blue? There are lots of possible colors to choose but don’t you know that color choices somehow transpire or reflect your personality or that different colors leave different impressions or meaning? Using color to convey meaning could be a powerful tool. In fact, colors do affect how you see things, or how you feel about it. It might even be referred as color symbolism or simply, color carry shades of meaning or that it carries a certain energy and influence.

So here are some of the colors commonly used and its meaning in general context:

Blue
Meaning:
professional, loyal, boring, Knowledge, health, relaxation
Effects: It help to visualize calmness that is why it is ideal as a bedroom color and for children’s room especially for over-active or hyperactive kids. Since it will make you relax, blue is the color to enhance your communication and decision-making.

Yellow
Meaning:
attention-grabbing, lively, cowardly, awareness, wisdom
Effects: It’s an energy-booster and could relieve depression since it quite vibrant. It enhances memory, perception and understanding. When you are not in the mood to eat, have some yellow in your sight.

Green
Meaning:
balance, peace and love, envy, stability, success
Effects: Like the color blue, green color will soothe and makes you relax mentally. It encourages self-control, harmony and relieves depressions.

Purple
Meaning:
power, creativity, royal, elegance, wisdom
Effects: it renders relief of tension, inner strength, wisdom, creativity as well as peace of mind.

Red
Meaning:
warm, danger, energy, courage, vitality
Effects: it provides good stimulation of brain, self-confidence and energy.

Orange
Meaning: cheerful, independence, happiness and confidence
Effects: it offers stimulation for a good appetite, energy-booster as well as serve as a source of confidence to foster sociability.

Could these colors apply in cars as well? Would it also bring good effects on its owner if he/she decided the color to choose for their car?

In a more specific application, here are some meanings of car color and that its effect on the impression left by its driver.

Black Car - this suggest the need for it’s to be distinctive and to discard anonymity from the rest of its same model.

Blue Car - It somehow suggest that its owner is quite showy and cool.

Red Car - A confident showy driver for sure, red after all symbolized confidence.

Yellow Car - It leaves an impression that the driver is sporty and active.

Orange Car - Same with yellow, orange car suggest that the driver is somehow sporty and has an active lifestyle.

Silver or Gold Car – Signifies A touch of elegance that leaves an impression that its driver or its owner is wealthy and rich.

Pink Car – obviously suggest that its owner is no less than belongs to the female specie. It clearly spells feminism.

But what meaning it becomes if you mix and match colors in one single car? Certainly, no one in his sound judgment dare to give it a try. Hehehe kidding! Well, if the owner wants to, then why not. Maybe he/she wants to convey different impressions.

So, does this hold truth in my case? Let me see..

I have a red car.
I preferred red car actually so that’s make me quite confident and showy?
So, could this be the reason why I always feel active? Hehehe to conclude, there’s some kernel of truth somewhere here, between my personality and the color of my car. If I have a chance to repaint or buy a new car, I would get it in silver or gold. Why? Because I know that by that time, I am rich and famous already. J

A Retractable Hard Top it is! Yay!

Early this year, Mazda released a new addition to their growing aftermarket upgrades for owners of MX- 5 Miata like me. I know this is a late post for that but I have just got one for myself just a couple of days ago. This is totally an upgrade from the current soft-top version I am beginning to get bored with. The reason I choose hard-top over the soft one is for safety reason. I always drive daily over this particular street I will not disclose where but you see, down that road have a neighborhood that quite got hysterical to each other. I was once pinched with a flying can from kids throwing anything at each other. Hehehe Spring season has also brought birds into so much glee that they literally went out there way to actually drop their dang of to any car they want, including mine! So, with this hard top, cleaning it would be easy. Isn’t it?

On the other news:

Mazda just currently released their 2008 Mazda Miata MX-5! Reviews noted that this 2008 year model is the best looking and greatest performing Mazda Miata. Hmm… let me see, figure its difference from my 2004 Miata.
The Current 2008 Mazda Miata performance:

It has a 1.8Liter displacement DOHC with 4 cylinder and 16 valves that could generate 142 hp at 7000 rpm. Its torque rating has weeping 125 ft lbs at 5000 rpm. It has a 5 speed manual transmission RWD and four wheel independent front and rear stabilizer suspension bar.

  • 1,992 cc 2.0 liters in-line 4 front engine with 87.4 mm bore, 83.1 mm stroke, 10.8 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder MZR
  • Premium unleaded fuel 91
  • Multi-point injection fuel system
  • 12.7 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank 10.6
  • Power: 124 kW , 166 HP SAE @ 6,700 rpm; 140 ft lb , 190 Nm @ 5,000 rpm

My 2004 Mazda Miata Mx-5 performance:

  • 1,839 cc 1.8 liters in-line 4 front engine with 83 mm bore, 85 mm stroke, 10 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder
  • Premium unleaded fuel 91
  • Fuel economy EPA highway (mpg): 28 and EPA city (mpg): 23
  • Multi-point injection fuel system
  • 12.7 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank
  • Power: 106 kW , 142 HP SAE @ 7,000 rpm; 125 ft lb , 170 Nm @ 5,000 rp

Can you see any difference? Heheh I know I know I sound sour graping. Hehehe Well, just wanted to update for me to have an excuse in letting you know what’s latest with my car.

Mine’s a convertible (un Miata Mx5 de Mazda señor y señora), so here is my personal tip to keep your convertible clean and function well. Take advantage of the spring season and fold down that convertible top and breathe some fresh air and temperate weather while driving.

  • Polished your levers and rods operating mechanism with lubricating oil of your convertible top by keeping it free from rust. But be careful about spilling some oil on your fabric.
  • Check on the top fabric and make sure that it doesn’t get away with the operating mechanism. Keep it intact.
  • Keep your convertible top free from dust since its folds in well. You probably don’t want the dust to settle with the top into the well.
  • Fix immediately any sign or early damage or weak spot before it opens out or else it will become worse.
  • Always clean your top as frequent as possible. Dirt accumulation could wreck the fabric of your top. Use a vacuum or broom if necessary.
  • Store a vinyl repair kit so you can immediately apply some on holes and other imperfection on your top’s surface. You can get one at $9 so store one. Read the instruction and label first before using.
  • Along with the vinyl repair kit, store also a colour spray for parts of your convertible top that is already fading. Before spraying, cover first the surface that is doesn’t spraying yet.

So while you have already a schedule for spring cleaning, include your convertible top in your routine.

I’m quite ecstatic bout the latest modification over my most priced possession – my well loved Mazda Miata MX-5. I’m not really into extreme car modification but simple mods and relatively cheap one can’t really hurt me – or my car. What modification? Installing neon lighting on my car’s underbody and my license plate, shift knob and dashboard has really set my car on a “bright” mode. My interior looks just awesome with this new lighting effect, making my sports car a little sportier without even changing or modifying its body. After installing these neon lights, I feel like my car is floating since its kind of glowing from under. Haha ;))

Although if you want to install one in your car, be careful about over doing it. There are still standards that the law set over lighting specification but, if done moderately it can even contribute to how you make your car more visible at night. Get one for yourself for as low as $24. Or if you want you can do canvassing if there are still available low prices in other store online or in your local auto shop. Cheap right? With few bucks, you can have already neon lights that you can install in your bumpers, antennas or it can even be a headlight accents.

I would gladly opt for simple modification like neon lights rather than this:

HAHA -:D although no pun intended but still, this is my personal taste speaking

do you want your car to be made into this?

One of the common car problems that most of us encounter is having a faulty and mute car speakers. While we brag about how sporty and edgy our car is, without a speaker, it would definitely make our car less appealing. Like in my case – a proud owner of a Mazda Miata MX5, I always see to it that my speakers are working and sounding well. A sports car should always be accompanied with sound to make it even sportier.

If you are having trouble with your speaker, like a rattling or hissing sound or worse, one or both of your speaker is already bootless then its time for a repair or replacement. But don’t opt for replacement if repair is enough to solve the problem out. The step by step solution is to know what is the problem, where is the problem coming from and of course knowing how it is going to be solved. If replacement is necessary, you must also be careful to get the correct replacement. Getting a wrong size of speaker, it would definitely affect the how good the sound it could get compared to the right size.

I remember a story about an old man who charged a big shipping line with only a little work he had done. Well, let me share it with you first to illustrate what solution I am talking about.

Here’s the story I read somewhere from a forwarded email:

A giant ship engine failed. The ship’s owners tried
one expert after another, but none of them could
figure but how to fix the engine. Then they brought in
an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a
young.

He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he
arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the
engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship’s owners were there, watching this
man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking
things over, the old man reached into his bag and
pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something.
Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully
put his hammer away.

The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners
received a bill from the old man for ten thousand
dollars.

“What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did
anything!” So they wrote the old man a note saying,
“Please send us an itemized bill.”

CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THE BREAKDOWN WAS?

The man sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer. …………. . $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap……….$ 9,998.00

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an
effort in your life makes all the difference.

Don't Let the Old man laugh at You. !

See how simple the problem was and the solution it has? To save time and your hard earned bucks, put in mind the moral lesson from this story. Before opting for replacement or deciding what repair should be done to any car problems like the speaker or amplifier, you must determine the problem or trouble first off. I remember an old friend telling me how stupid foolish he got when he immediately got a replacement for his speaker/amplifier just because a hissing or popping sound was coming out. It turns out the problem can only be solved by merely cleaning off the dirt of debris formed on the rear dash. It had affected the quality of sound that his speaker used to have. So, Yeah. This is all for now, Find out the most common speaker/amplifier problems and their solutions in my next posts.

Car is said to be man’s alter ego. A second character of the man’s person within and an extension of who and what he is. This is fairly true in my case.
