So you have a great car. Did you personally choose its color? If not, what would be the perfect color you will go for? Silver? Red? Black? Blue? There are lots of possible colors to choose but don’t you know that color choices somehow transpire or reflect your personality or that different colors leave different impressions or meaning? Using color to convey meaning could be a powerful tool. In fact, colors do affect how you see things, or how you feel about it. It might even be referred as color symbolism or simply, color carry shades of meaning or that it carries a certain energy and influence.

So here are some of the colors commonly used and its meaning in general context:

Blue
Meaning:
professional, loyal, boring, Knowledge, health, relaxation
Effects: It help to visualize calmness that is why it is ideal as a bedroom color and for children’s room especially for over-active or hyperactive kids. Since it will make you relax, blue is the color to enhance your communication and decision-making.

Yellow
Meaning:
attention-grabbing, lively, cowardly, awareness, wisdom
Effects: It’s an energy-booster and could relieve depression since it quite vibrant. It enhances memory, perception and understanding. When you are not in the mood to eat, have some yellow in your sight.

Green
Meaning:
balance, peace and love, envy, stability, success
Effects: Like the color blue, green color will soothe and makes you relax mentally. It encourages self-control, harmony and relieves depressions.

Purple
Meaning:
power, creativity, royal, elegance, wisdom
Effects: it renders relief of tension, inner strength, wisdom, creativity as well as peace of mind.

Red
Meaning:
warm, danger, energy, courage, vitality
Effects: it provides good stimulation of brain, self-confidence and energy.

Orange
Meaning: cheerful, independence, happiness and confidence
Effects: it offers stimulation for a good appetite, energy-booster as well as serve as a source of confidence to foster sociability.

Could these colors apply in cars as well? Would it also bring good effects on its owner if he/she decided the color to choose for their car?

In a more specific application, here are some meanings of car color and that its effect on the impression left by its driver.

Black Car - this suggest the need for it’s to be distinctive and to discard anonymity from the rest of its same model.

Blue Car - It somehow suggest that its owner is quite showy and cool.

Red Car - A confident showy driver for sure, red after all symbolized confidence.

Yellow Car - It leaves an impression that the driver is sporty and active.

Orange Car - Same with yellow, orange car suggest that the driver is somehow sporty and has an active lifestyle.

Silver or Gold Car – Signifies A touch of elegance that leaves an impression that its driver or its owner is wealthy and rich.

Pink Car – obviously suggest that its owner is no less than belongs to the female specie. It clearly spells feminism.

But what meaning it becomes if you mix and match colors in one single car? Certainly, no one in his sound judgment dare to give it a try. Hehehe kidding! Well, if the owner wants to, then why not. Maybe he/she wants to convey different impressions.

So, does this hold truth in my case? Let me see..

I have a red car.
I preferred red car actually so that’s make me quite confident and showy?
So, could this be the reason why I always feel active? Hehehe to conclude, there’s some kernel of truth somewhere here, between my personality and the color of my car. If I have a chance to repaint or buy a new car, I would get it in silver or gold. Why? Because I know that by that time, I am rich and famous already. J

“Going to church does not make you a Christian anymore than going to the garage makes you a car.”

Quote from Dr. Laurence J. Peter which the pastor in our church re-quoted last Sunday during the mass. How interesting this quote strike me, the analogy is quite amusing but the truth behind it is more than a kernel of corn on its weight. Maybe Pastor Jade observed less and less men species goes to church every Sunday. Hmm. Maybe he’s just sort of trying to extend the message that even how many effort or attention you give on your car, you will never be one. Huh. Come on don’t be sarcastic now, try to see the depth of this message to you. Are you also guilty of this?

Most of us, especially man have chose to pay a little more attention to our cars rather than going to church. I don’t want to sound quite a religious or whatever but this is really the truth in most cases. But hey the quote also conveys that, even though you always go to church, it will not make you anymore a Christian unless you take in on your heart. So there, don’t be a hypocrite now.

When we saw old car, we typically say it’s a classic car. Yes? But don’t you know that before a car is considered classic it must meet its criteria to be one. Although classic car literally often describes an older car, its meaning varies and subject to different set of opinion. Two prevailing and famed organization dedicated to classic cars has defined and conceded that the true classic cars are the cars manufactured only until 1948. The Concours d’Elegance and theClassic Car Club of America are the two groups to set this definition.

Furthermore, the Classic Car Club of America has claimed that they have coined the term “classic car” hence, its true definition should be based according to the context of their own definition. For CCCA as quoted in wikipedia, classic car means:

A CCCA Classic is a fine or distinctive automobile, either American or foreign built, produced between 1925 and 1948. Generally, a Classic was high-priced when new and was built in limited quantities. Other factors, including engine displacement, custom coachwork and luxury accessories, such as power brakes, power clutch, and “one-shot” or automatic lubrication systems, help determine whether a car is considered to be a Classic

They have also their own exclusive list as to what vehicles are included in the list. Any vehicle that is intended to be included in the list undergone petition for the said intention and by which its application are thoroughly reviewed and scrutinized for approval.

Aside from CCCA, there are other authorized bodies that set their own definition. In the US, classic car’s legal definition is based in the purpose of issuing antique vehicle registration. This kind of vehicle registration is specifically given to cars considered antique, classic, historic and vintage. The minimum year for cars to be considered classic in the US is 15 years. On the other hand, the Antique Automobile Club of America defines a classic car that has over 25 years on its manufactured date.

While the debate on to which vehicles considered classic is on going, a division was created called Modern Classic to present older cars of 15-25 years yet still not accepted as classic cars.

In United Kingdom, classic cars are also those cars that are 15 years old and over which has an excess value of L15, 000. Classic cars in the UK are also tax-free so typically, cars built before 1973 are exempted from paying annual taxes.

When you say car detailing, it entails a systematic way, steps or manner in taking care of your car. Taking care also includes the protection you could give and that daily maintenance you do to keep your car clean and shine. I’ve search over the net to find all the possible detailing tools that can be use in cleaning cars, thoroughly. That’s it, not the expensive types use in auto shops like carpet extractor, gas pressure washer, generators, air compressors, electric pressure washer and well, you get my point. What I am referring to are those tools that our pockets could afford and that we can use it right in our house vicinity.

So here are the tools I found that you could use at home:

  • Polishing pads
  • Brushes
  • Vacuum or blowers
  • Drying tools
  • Sponges & mitts
  • Spray
  • Buckets
  • Hose and water jet nozzle
  • Dusters
  • Microfiber products

The interior of your car should be spotlessly clean and mould-free smell. You could do a regular vacuum to prevent accumulation of sand, dust, salt and other grimes that will damage the floor panels, carpets or liners. Wiping off the dirt from the dashboards, seats and parcel shelf should be included.

On the other hand, the exterior should also be well maintained since the first impression of a properly maintained car is seen here. It also defines the resale value of the car. You must take car detailing seriously on your exterior especially if you live in coastal places where salt presence is high. Regular car detailing and servicing is the key to achieve total maintenance and protection.

Friendly and Useful Tips in doing a DIY car detailing at Home:

- If you are a smoker, try not to smoke inside your car. The nicotine and smoke sticks to the glass applications in your car which are too hard way to remove. Also, the smell sticks heavily especially if you have a fabric seats.

- Try to choose the best air freshener that will compliment your car and especially yours. Some air freshener’s causes dizziness and that it also sticks its fragrance to your car’s upholstery so better choose the one you best like.

- Keep a weekly maintenance routine to keep the color of your car crisp and sparkly.

- Avoid using streak towels since it causes damage to your paint.

- Sponge is the one of the best tool you can use to wash your car. It allows a rich lather while it ensures a smooth and non-abrasive texture.

- Shampoo or hair shampoos are a good and cheap solution you can use to wash your car. It comes economical and easier to find that other washing liquids.

- Why did I include micro fiber cloth because of its capacity to dry clean your car fast and smooth after washing. Be sure to stock enough of this in your garage.

- Make sure to wipe your car immediately after you drove it under heavy rain. The dirt accumulated during the rain if left to dry will de difficult to remove so better wipe it off before its dries.

- Cotton cloths are the safest and most effective tool to clean your windshields and windows off.

- If you don’t regularly use your car, make sure to at least switch the ignition on for at least five minutes to ensure its engine will not rust into decay for not being used.

- Since summer time is here, one good tip to keep your car shiny and maintain its paint quality is to immediately wash it off after you have gone to the beach. As I said, salt is the number cause of rusting in your car.

Posted by James in Guide, car detailing, car's paint, just anything, maintenance, solutions, tips

For my last post, I have discussed about how to check you car paint’s condition. It was some sort of requirement that your car’s paint must meet or must have undergone before you could say that your car has the perfect and smooth shine! But this time, I will share with you simple and easy to follow instruction on how you can achieve that perfect shine, hence the title of this post. I’ve discovered that you do need to have professional skills to actually make your car shine like you wanted it to shine.

Here are the steps for your way to that perfect shine you desire:

1. Wash it & Dry it Clean.

It is recommended that you wash your car twice consecutively using a car wash solution. You can even use a shampoo since this has shining effect already. But if the dirt of your car needs more than shampoo to get it done, use a dish washing liquid instead. Make sure that you rinse your car well to avoid soap blot formation.

2. Detail it with clay system.

You can check the smoothness of your car’s paint after cleaning I through your hands. If its squeaks when rob, then it’s not yet completely smooth. Your car’s paint maybe contaminated still with dust, dirt and acid rain residues and other road grimes that’s why it’s not evenly smooth. Clay system of detailing is one of the most effective ways to get rid of these contaminants. Clay detailing gently smoothes your car’s paint to leave a slick and shiny afterwards with just simple step of applying it that comes in liquid or in bar.

3. Inspect it for Paint Damage.

When you are done cleaning and detailing, inspect for minor paint damage. In most cases, minor damage in your car is not noticed unless it is cleaned since it could be concealed by the road grimes. If you find scratches and blemishes, use a restore polish to repair these flaws. You need a good rubbing compound to do this like sandpaper. If doing it by your self is not enough, bring to your local auto shop for a machine or electric drill buffing work.

4. Rejuvenate it.

You can do this by applying glaze on your paint. Glazing brings out your car’s full potential to shine and gloss. This is recommended especially if your car has minor damage of scratches and blemishes. If you’re car’s paint is already in its good condition, you can skip this step since there is nothing to rejuvenate in the first place.

5. Protect it.

You cannot do this unless you are sure that your car’s paint is already totally cleaned or detailed. Protect it using the tried and tested cleaner you always use in your car. If you don’t know any brand, start with the safest solution of organic type of cleaner. But for longer period of protection, most auto shop use synthetic solution and cleaners since it is known to last longer that the organic one.

6. Seal it.

By sealing, this simply means you need to wax it as the final step. This is like applying the finishing touches of your masterpiece. Waxing provides a luxurious depth of clarity, color, smoothness and shine! This step is the greatest factor to bring out the full potential of your car’s paint to just rise and shine. Most experts suggest that the carnauba wax meets and even exceed your expectation of shininess and clarity. I could attest to this fact but sometimes I opt for the synthetic wax for long lasting effect although it does not give what a carnauba could offer.

You regularly used car cleaner products but do you know what or where it is made from? Read on the following and discover what’s inside the container of that car cleaner you have in hand!

WAX. This could come as organic or synthetic. These two types are made from different solutions. Most organic wax is made from plants and natural substance like beeswax, fruits, vegetables and other plants like the carnauba. On the other hand, the synthetic are made from petroleum sources like corn products and other man-made wax.

To be specific, the following are types or sources of wax used in making car wax:

  • 1. Bayberry Wax – as the name implies, this comes from the berries of bayberry. This is used in making candles too so this is most likely a good kind of wax.
  • 2. Beeswax – produced by beeswax is the wax that bees use to make hives. Like the bayberry, this is also a good raw material for candle making, polishes, make-up, crayon and many more. So this also makes a good car wax as well.
  • 3. Wool wax – this wax are sourced from animals which is popularly known as lanolin. This is manufactured to be a good polish for leather shoes and furniture. Some soap is also made from this.
  • 4. Carnauba wax – produced from the leaves of carnauba palm tress typically found in Brazil. This is a good source of organic wax called candelilla which is brown in color. It has great properties of wax; in fact it is used in making candles, floor dressings, and phonograph records and especially as car wax.
  • 5. Polymer wax – this is made from compounds of petroleum sources which includes Teflon that is patented by DuPont. Most commercially available car wax are made from this since it offers lot of advantages plus it is widely available since it has continues production being synthetic and controlled by man.
  • 6. Petroleum wax – this is a more concentrated solution of polymer wax. A by-product called paraffin used in making petroleum jelly and others. It has active compounds of hydrogen, carbon, chlorine and oxygen. This more widely used than the polymer based although both comes popular solutions.

CLEANER. There are also two types of cleaner, a friction and chemical. The first type which is the friction is made from either silicate or clay particulate. This cleaner thrust into the paint’s surface for a clean, smooth and shiny surface. The chemical cleaner on the other hand is more of the abrasive type of cleaner that sink into the car paints deeply to remove stains, tars, bugs and old wax. You probably ask more information about this type of cleaner since it could ruin you car paints.

POLISH. Of all the products you can apply on your car’s paint, polish are normally has the non-abrasive solution. It is after all, based from nutrient oil matrix.

GLAZE. Glaze has an emollients essentials and lubricating oils and contains small amount of mild cleaners that is effective in removing scratches and marks. It also leaves a smooth and shiny finish on the car’s paint.

CLEANER & WAX COMBINATION. There is available car paint cleaner that is already a combination of two or more products like this one. But be cautious in thinking you are actually having a great bargain with this since as far as fact is concerned, cleaner and wax has different properties and method of use so probably, you have to think about this.

DEGREASER or STAIN REMOVER. This is more the concentrated type of a chemical cleaner that is formulated to remove road contaminants like tar and bugs that had leave the paint’s surface with unappealing stains. Read the ingredients before buying one, some are made from petroleum distillates and some are citrus based. Obviously, the citrus based is milder than the petroleum type.

Sample of Spoilers:

Many car owners carry the same question towards spoilers. Do they really work? Or are they merely for styling purposes? What exactly is the use of the spoiler in cars? Can we really take advantage of how it is being advertised as it is supposed to provide our cars?

Modifying our cars by equipping it with this vehicle accessory, the spoiler, could give as different purposes. But does it really meet its definition? As answers.com provided the following meaning:

A spoiler is an aerodynamic device attached to an automobile whose intended design function is to ’spoil’ unfavorable air movement across a body of a vehicle of some kind in motion. This can result in improved vehicle stability by decreasing lift or decreasing drag that may cause unpredictable handling in a car at speed.

Does a spoiler on our cars really decrease the drag and lift by spoiling unfavorable air movement around our car? Do it boost our cars performance and handling during acceleration. By the definition given by answers.com we have already in mind that this metal fin mounted on the car’s rear, aids in giving our car a favorable down force. But many car experts contented that in order for the spoilers to work, we must drive more that at around 100 mph for it to take effect. With restricted speed limits on most city streets and highways, do we really need to give our cars spoiler?

Automotive engineers especially those in the field of creating design to improve the vehicles aerodynamic recommend the use of spoilers if only your vehicle runs at top speed. What are these? Those cars intended for drag race and other sports cars that demands running at great speed. At top speed, the car really needs the aid of spoiler to keep their car on the road. Without spoilers, there is a big possibility for the car to roll-over since it becomes lighter as it runs fast. The spoilers will serve as an additional weight to the total mass of the car thus making the car stick to the ground. This is the real catch of the spoiler’s application.

But for passenger cars, most owners would admit that spoilers doesn’t really mean for its real purpose but for styling and enhancing reasons only. Simply, these won’t really boost the car’s performance but its appearance instead. Our average cars like sedan, coupe or van won’t be driven fast enough to test the spoiler’s materiality. This ground alone makes spoiler downright useless except being a rear attraction for a sportier and meaner appeal.

Ask many car experts as you can about the use of spoilers to your passenger car and you will be answered with same answer all over again. Maybe, aerodynamic and down force are only marketing claims that most dealers and traders advertise. It really does a little help with your car’s performance.

Before getting auto spoiler, you might answer this question first. Does spoiler succors or spoils? Well your answer would depend on how you feel the purpose of spoilers will be to you. If you are expecting that it will improve your car’s performance, then it’s best just to keep your money. But if you just want to add some enhancement on the way you look at your car, go on. I bet there are a lot of other car owners who opt for the same.

Here are some cars with spoilers:

How edgy it is, right? (Spoilers indicated by the arrows)

Do you think this matches this car?

<!–[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]–>
<!–[endif]–>This is what you call OVERDONE

With these pictures, what is the spoiler kept in store for you? Are you going for it? Me, personally, I don’t really feel spoilers being seen in my car. Although my Mazda Miata mx-5 a sport car, I don’t like the idea of putting additional weight and distraction over my car’s view. Well, this is just me. But there are other cars that really go great with spoilers in them. Good Day Everyone.

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.

Just think about how cars are being made, really. Even if you paid for that every 8,460 bolt out, wrecking it would quite be some form of disrespect to the men who had perspired in making that single car assembly. Accidents do happen, it’s inevitable but there are cases that are seemingly unacceptable and annoying to think of. Speeding on highway just for fun or racing, and drunk driving are some of the despicable cause of accidents. You can never really blame a bad weather but although in emergency case you really have to drive through it. If you don’t have any valid reason to drive in the middle of that angry weather, stay put in your houses. Driver’s error is also in the top of the causes of accidents list, although no one can really claim they are expert or professional-perfect drivers, there are errors that seems really their fault like beating the red light, not abiding the traffic laws, faulty car parts such as a dysfunctional lighting system. Really, these faults could be pointed out to the driver nevertheless.

So there, remember how your car is being made. Don’t just wreck it like you can assemble it again.
